About Me

Matthew LeeI am an experienced software developer with an angle for website design. Working freelance for the past nine years has allowed me to develop my skills with HTML 5, CSS 3, RSS 2.0, JavaScript (Vanilla and jQuery), PHP 7 and MySQLi. I create bespoke software solutions and craft websites with and without content management systems.

Web Development Skills

My work requires that I have a familiarity with web and database servers. I am experienced with working with the Apache server on both Windows and Linux platforms. I am also familiar with how to configure a VPS through shell access via TLS. My database experience is with the MySQL database.

In terms of CMS (content management systems), I am more familiar with WordPress than other systems such as Laravel. My experience with WordPress allows me to work with and customise existing themes as well as create custom built WordPress plugins. I have many years’ experience in Ecommerce and help manage and maintain multilingual trading platforms.

Recent years have seen me start to branch into machine learning and HTML 5 App development. I have created automated software systems that using different statistical algorithms attempt to predict the likely outcome of an event given a predefined set of inputs. I have had apps published on both the Google Play Store and the App Store. These apps I now develop with the Monaca IDE.

My work lends itself to the web and I enjoy designing websites as much as I enjoy taking designs from the drawing board into a live environment on the internet. I publish both HTML sites as well as dynamic database driven sites, hosted both on Apache and Nginx servers.

I also work on Search Engine Optimisation and work with compliant web standards defined by Google, Microsoft and the W3C. I am familiar with Google Analytics, Google Webmasters, keyword analysis, image optimisation, rich data snippets and the optimisation of website loading times. As well as search engine optimisation for website traffic I know how to create PPC campaigns with Google AdWords.

Interests of mine are cooking/catering, gaming, music, and the natural world and would love to focus on areas like these in future projects.
